Exposed walls , and even semi-protected house facades often suffer with Efflorescence . What is efflorescence ?
Simply put , it is the migration of soluble salts that exist naturally in many brick making clays from deep inside the fired brick to the surface. This manifests itself as a white stain , which although it easily washes off , does tend to reappear again.
For many people these white salts can spoil the appearance of the wall or property, and efforts are made to remove them .
What if I coat the bricks with Silicone sealant ?
Almost all built brick work will have a significant amount of water content.
So applying Silicone sealant retrospectively will just seal the water in and create a permanent problem.
The new innovation from
is to use a process they translate into English as ' lacquering' which seals the surface of the brick whilst it is still in the factory.
